At Absolute Motion we have been hosting regular training camps since 2014 and we always try to make our camps an adventure.

Our January 2025 camp took place in the beautiful area of the Kouebokkeveld. We were based at Rhodene Farm Cottages just outside of Prince Alfred Hamlet and all our meals were prepared by the amazing team of Oppi Berg Caterers.

The support crew consisted out of Sunique, Cobus and our head coach Johann. We had 2 back-up vehicles on the road with the riders and the crew had to make sure everyone was safe, fed and watered along the way.

Day 1 – We headed from Prince Alfred towards Matjiesfontein on the R46 before turning left onto gravel and tho most scenic farms and views that makes the Op-die-Berg area so beautiful. 140km later we rolled into Camp.

Day 2 – Play day! We headed to the Eselfontein trails and was well received by Deon who has been building trails on the farm for more than 30 years … And it showed. Wow! More than 50km of the most stunning trails later we dragged our tired bodies home

Day 3 – We climbed up the Ou Gydo Pass and then dropped down into Tulbagh via the Ou Wapad. An absolute peach of a day. Quick coffee in Tulbagh and then the road back to Rhodene Farm Cottages via Wolseley. 110km with some proper climbing.

Day 4 – The Queen stage! We rode to the Tankwa Padstal and back. Yes, 200km! And as it goes in the Tankwa Karoo … There is always wind and it is always a headwind. Days like these are designed to test and develop mental fortitude and everyone survived this big day with aplomb.

Day 5 – The best way to end a good week of riding, making new friends and learning new things is to go and play on the trails! We headed back to Eselfonten, where Deon waited for us on his e-bike to show us some of the trails we have not ridden yet.

5 Days, 600km and 7500m of climbing later, our camp came to an end. The weather was GREAT, the accommodation was GREAT, the food was EXCELLENT and new friendships forged will last a lifetime.

Thank you to our support crew, Rhodene Farm Cottages, Theron from Oppi Berg Caterers and each of the participants for setting a new standard for our training camps!

See you at our next camp soon.
